Kancho Royama

Kancho Hatsuo Royama was born in Saitama prefecture
on 31^st of march 1948 . At the age of sixteen he was
in high school , he started training under Oyama karate
( kyokushin) at TOKYO So Honbu under master Oyama.
He achieved his shodan Black Belt when he was
nineteen year old. Royama trained exceptionally hard
and soon become an instructor for the head quarters in
the TOKYO Honbu in his mid-teens .
Kancho Royama’s pursuit to perfect his karate skill has
led him to master Oyama ‘s mentor. Kenichi Sawai to
practice Taiki-Ken and to become one of sawai sensei’s
most strong student. He studied other Martial-Art which are practiced around the Asia . Then Royama temporally left Kyokushin Karate and appeared on the ring as a
kick-boxer.

1973 he come back to kyokushinkaikan and participated 5^th all Japan open karate tournament and won the 1^st place .1974 on the 6^th all Japan karate tournament he become the 3^rd . After that Royama placed second in the first world open karate tournament in 1975 by defeating many strong opponents with his famous “Gedan Mawashigeri” or low-kicks on that tournament , he succeeded in introducing this devastating technique to world and making in the single most effective technique in knock - down karate championships today.

He also used this technique (Gedan Mawashigeri) for breaking baseball bats with his shins while the bat was not being held by a person, this takes great speed, power and focus.

After death of the Sosai Oyama , kancho royama a supported shihan Matsui (IKO-I) and remained to be the branch chief of his native saitama prefecture. He become executive advisor of IKO Kyokushin Kai Kan and a curator of Japan and Russian region in IKO International committee.

In the 2002, According to the will of Sosai Oyama, Kancho Hatuo Royama together with Dr. Yoshiharu Umeda re-established the Kyokushin Shogakukai Foundation ,Kyokushin kan International . He was placed kancho Hatsuo Royama as the chairman and shihan Tsuyoshi Hiroshige as the vice chairman.
